LAUNCH UPDATE: Launch is now NET Tuesday Jan 24th between 5-7 pm CST.
RocketLab is ready for its debut launch from Launch Complex 2 at Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. RocketLab is launching three satellites for HawkEye 360, a radio frequency geospatial analytics provider, onboard the company’s Electron rocket.
RocketLab will be livestreaming the launch of Virginia is for Launch Lovers on their YouTube channel with coverage beginning about two hours before launch at 4:15 pm CT. The launch is scheduled for no earlier than January 24th with the launch window opening at 5 pm CT and lasting until 7 pm CT.
The three Hawkeye360 satellites being launched are part of a constellation of satellites, and the first of three launches for the satellite provider by RocketLab. This new generation of satellites will allow for improved mapping of radio frequency emissions in high demand areas.
Launch Complex 2 (LC-2) at Wallops is RocketLab’s first American launch site, an announcement that was made back in October of 2018, and the site was developed to launch their Electron rocket. Earlier this year, on November 9th, RocketLab announced it was ready to launch from LC-2, originally targeting December 7th for its debut launch.
RocketLab maintains a launch complex in New Zealand, where it has already launched over thirty Electron missions from Launch Complex 1.
