Mission
Cosmic Chicago offers a local perspective of what’s happening right now in the space industry. Our coverage includes mission updates, commercial space launches and events, astronaut and industry interviews, urban astronomy guides and local Chicago space events and news.
Chicago might not be home to a NASA center, nor launch rockets from our shore, but we have always played a huge role in exploring and studying the cosmos. Let us show you that there is a place in space for everyone!
Our Story
Cosmic Chicago was founded in 2015 by Sophie Sanchez and originally published on ChicagoNow, a platform owned by Chicago Tribune Media Group. Following the shutdown of ChicagoNow in 2022, Cosmic Chicago was relaunched.
Our focus remains on reporting space and astronomy news, including stories featuring the work and impact local Chicagoans have on the space industry. Please excuse our dust while we create our new site and bring content over.
Editorial Policy
Cosmic Chicago aims to inform, educate, and disseminate space, astronomy, and aviation news. All reporting and stories published are done so with information provided by the space agencies, institutions, and companies we work with and insight from our writers and editors.
